TEMPLO DEL SAMURAI

A luxury countryside home, remodeled atop a mountain in Santa Fe de Antioquia, blending Japanese zen with tropical lushness.

Templo del Samurai

DESIGN BRIEF

The Samurai Temple is a luxury countryside home in Santa Fe de Antioquia, remodeled atop a mountain, blending Japanese zen with tropical lushness. Executed by DCERO Design (Daniel Londoño), it balances minimalism and natural materials through clean lines, suspended volumes, and bold woodwork, creating a contemplative sanctuary. Water mirrors, decks, and abundant vegetation strengthen its connection to the landscape.

The exterior redesign focused on two key areas: the expansion of the Master Bedroom with its private garden and the extension of the Pool Deck. The first, a cantilevered structure, features a jacuzzi surrounded by reflecting pools and a Buddha sculpture among palm trees, creating a sanctuary for contemplation. Materials such as ipe wood and polished concrete provide durability and warmth, while strategic lighting enhances the ambiance. The second deck extends the pool with floating platforms made of steel and wood, blending seamlessly with the topography and framing panoramic views.

The pool deck incorporates a sculptural structure with three large wooden leaves, supported by steel pillars that create an imposing presence. Inspired by organic fluidity, these forms cast dynamic shadows and define elevated resting areas that blend into the landscape. Beside it, the Open-Air Tropical Bathroom maintains a strong connection with the outdoors through natural materials and lush vegetation, enhancing the sense of freshness and privacy with abundant natural light.

INTERIORS: WABI SABI & MODERNITY

The interior design stands out in the Master Bedroom and the Open-Air Tropical Bathroom. The bedroom, inspired by the wabi-sabi philosophy, features earthy tones, natural oak, and raw linen, with an elevated tatami platform and a panoramic window framing the mountain. The bathroom, designed as a spa retreat, combines a dual volcanic stone shower, a freestanding bathtub, and aged bronze details. Adjacent to the pool, the Outdoor Bathroom blends rusticity and luxury, featuring an open shower surrounded by heliconias and handcrafted brick walls.

PRECISION AND VISUAL ART

DCERO Design was responsible for the project's execution. However, it is in the hyperrealistic renders by Mauryarte where the architectural vision comes to life. Each image captures the precise interplay of light, reflections, and textures, highlighting the fusion of Japanese minimalism and tropical nature. The composition of volumes, the warmth of wood, and the weightlessness of the overhangs are presented with a realism that anticipates the experience of inhabiting this sanctuary of serenity and timeless design.
